FAA Approval - BWE received approval from FAA to conduct a virtual training course that meets the requirements of FAA Advisory Circular 150/5200-36B.
Course Information
Purpose
To provide a three-day training course (24 hours) that meets the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements as outlined in FAA Advisory Circular (AC) 150/5200-36B “Qualifications for Wildlife Biologist Conducting Wildlife Hazard Assessments and Training Curriculums for Airport Personnel Involved in Controlling Wildlife Hazards on Airports” (01/24/2019).
Goal
To provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed by a wildlife biologist to conduct Wildlife Hazard Assessments [§139.337(c)] and to conduct wildlife hazard training [§139.337(f)(7)].
Overview of 24 hour virtual training agenda:
Prerecorded modules
Self-paced course modules - 10 hours

The course will open on October 1, 2021.

Students must complete 10 hours of prerecorded course presentations prior to October 19, 2021.

Modules and video files will be available to view at the participants own pace.

An overview of each prerecorded module will be conducted during the live meetings with ample time for questions and discussion.
Course Assignments
Mini WHA Homework Assignment - 2 hours

Following the completion of live meeting on October 19, 2021, participants will be assigned a mini WHA homework assignment for completion by October 21, 2021.
-
The assignment will include drafting a methodology outline, general maps (no GIS software necessary), identifying potential wildlife attractants, environmental and logistics considerations, and providing a brief PowerPoint presentation to the group regarding the assigned project site.
